Girl with the pearl earrings: An ode to Vermeer

I was able to design a collection of Girl with a Pearl Earring jewelry for the Rijksmuseum in the context of the Johannes Vermeer exhibition that took place in early 2023. This exhibition was a wonderful opportunity to bring Vermeer's enchanting world to life through unique and handmade jewelry.

The Girl with a Pearl Earrings are the showpiece of my Vermeer collection. Inspired by the iconic painting and its beautiful color palette, I chose enamel in yellow and blue to recreate the atmosphere of the paintings. These earrings combine traditional elements with modern techniques, making them not only a tribute to Vermeer, but also a perfect fit for contemporary styles. I was and am very much in love with the color of the yellow jacket that is often seen in Johannes Vermeer's paintings. This striking yellow jacket served as inspiration for many of the pieces in my Vermeer collection. The warm yellow tones, combined with the deep blue colors of the enamel, create a harmonious and elegant appearance that is typical of Vermeer's works.
